Ever notice all those ads on websites as you are browsing? Of course you do...they're everywhere! As more sites search for revenue they tend to add more and more ads (which also tend to be of lower and lower quality). All these ads slow page loads and can be a big distraction. Additionally, there is a growing issue with many of these ads being linked to malware. https://arstechnica.com/security/2016/03/big-name-sites-hit-by-rash-of-malicious-ads-spreading-crypto-ransomware/ and http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/01/25/google-disable-900000-ads-2016-spreading-malware-thats-just-tip-bad-ad-iceberg/.
So.....what can be done?
A quick and easy solution is to add an ad blocker to your browser. This will give you:
- More speed- because your browser won't be burning time and bandwidth to load the ads
- Increase your productivity - because the distractions will be gone and the speed will improve
- Reduce your risk- from malware tied to bad ads
Here are my favorite two:
Adblock Plus – this is my #2 choice, because they’ve been taking money from advertisers to allow certain ads through (http://www.cnbc.com/2016/09/14/adblock-plus-defends-new-whitelisting-ad-platform.html) - https://adblockplus.org/ and it’s available in both the Apple and Google Stores.
